He earned his medical degree cum laude from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Western Reserve Hospital, serving as Chief Resident during his final year of training. He recently completed a fellowship in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia.
 
Dr. Burka’s clinical interests include minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques, sports-related injuries, joint preservation, complex shoulder and knee reconstruction, as well as shoulder and knee replacements. In addition to his clinical practice, he has contributed to multiple case reports, technique articles, and ongoing research projects, several of which have been presented at regional and national meetings, including the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress and the Western Reserve Hospital Research Symposium, where he received recognition for his work.
 
He is an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. He has also served extensively as a resident educator, leading didactic sessions, journal clubs, and surgical teaching for medical students and residents.
 
Dr. Burka is committed to advancing the field of sports medicine through evidence-based care, research, and collaboration with referring physicians to optimize patient outcomes.
 
Outside the operating room, he enjoys golfing, hiking, traveling the world, and spending time with his family.
